Sh. Ch. Hillanhi Hjordis
Hjordis was one of five good winners from Champions Midlander Peer Gynt and Wittekind Solveig, Four being Junior Warrant Winners and the fifth winning two field trial awards.
Hjordis started with a bang as BIS at the
GSP Club Open Show aged six months and three days. Two weeks later
she had her junior warrant and a reserve CC, before she was 18 months
of age she had totalled 148 junior warrant points.
Her first of three consecutive Crufts CC’s was her thirteenth,
which was crowned by her taking the Reserve in the Group to the eventual
Best in Show winner Ch.Astleys Portia of Rua.
Hjordis had a wonderful show career winning 42 Challenge Certificates and no less than 5 groups at Championship shows in an era when German Shorthaired Pointers were the underdog.
Form three litters Hjordis produced three champions in England and Australian Champion Hillanhi Ardmore.
Described by many leading judges of the day as the epitome of the breed standard, her movement was effortless in the ring and tireless in the field. She was the complete showgirl and devoid of any exaggerations.
She retired from the ring in 1982 as the Breed Record Holder with 42 challenge certificates, a record unbeaten to this day, and it is through her progeny that her true value to the breed has been shown.
